SPRING REFRESHER
"PRACTICE WHAT WE TEACH"
Saturday, May 20 from 8:30-11:30am
Anchoring, Charts, Piloting, Radio, Docking, GPS
Right-of-Way on our local waters…...and more!

Last year’s fleet: 30+ participants, 6 boats, great weather, great fun
Come join the fun and prepare for a safe season on the water

The Spring Refresher is designed for the graduates of the Coastal Boating/Safe Boating class, DSPS members and their guests who want to “refresh” their safe boating skills. We will leave Noroton YC, 23 Baywater Drive, Darien at 8:30am and return by 11:30am on Saturday, May 20. Take advantage of this opportunity to "Practice What We Teach." It is your opportunity to go out on a Darien Sail & Power Squadron member boat and see Long Island Sound with an experienced teacher and boat captain.

There will be 3-4 participants on each boat with a captain and a DSPS coordinator. The “on the water” activities will include: pre-launch boat review, leaving the dock, proceeding to the channel, plotting a course, basic rules of the road, man-over-board (MOB), anchoring, and docking. We will practice navigation rules, communicating on a VHF radio, releasing and securing your boat from the dock or mooring, and other safe boating skills needed to have a stress free and safe outing on the water.

Coffee/water and donuts are provided before we leave and a box lunch is included to enjoy with your crew upon return. Bring a friend or a family member if you would like. The cost is $25 per person and includes the box lunch after the trip. Also, we can make arrangements for lunch at the dock with your family members/friends that are not participating in on-the-water activities for a minimal fee. Show them the boats and the docks!

We have had great weather the last 5 years and hope to have good weather again this year. We leave the Noroton YC docks at 8:30 (promptly, so come early) and return by 11:30am.
