The Darien Sail & Power Squadron Is Invited To A
Noroton Yacht Club Presentation About The Volvo Ocean Race

Friday, November 16, 2018, at 8:00 pm*
Noroton Yacht Club
23 Baywater Drive, Darien

The presenter will be Tucker Thompson, of Annapolis, Maryland, who has become the “Voice of the America’s Cup” in San Francisco and Bermuda – following in the footsteps of the master, Gary Jobson.

Tucker, and his video company, T2P.TV, have filmed and explained hundreds of major sailing events, including the J-24 World’s Championship, hosted by Noroton YC several years ago. Many of our local sailors met him then, and Squadron Members Sandy McDonald and Bob Lamkin assisted him in driving their own “crash-boats” close-in along the course, so that very dramatic footage could be captured, edited, and presented within hours of the event.

Friday’s presentation will be on the Volvo Ocean Race (formerly the Whitbread Round the World Race), outlining the background of the race, the teams, and life aboard the sleek 65' one-design craft that now make up the fleet. The 2017-2018 race started in Alicante, Spain and ended in The Hague, Netherlands, after 9 months of racing, with the first two finishers in sight of each other. Tucker will have a good story to tell about that incredible finish, and the months of tough racing that make up the event.

There will be a charge of $15 per person for attendance at the Tucker Thompson presentation at 8:00pm.

*Squadron Members are also invited to a buffet supper before the presentation, from 6:00 to 7:30pm, for a charge of $35 per person. If you would like to come to the buffet supper, your reservation should be processed as soon as possible, because the Club has limited seating.

Please choose your option from the drop-down list below and process your payment through the Squadron’s PayPal system. You can use your own PayPal account or any major credit card.

Your PayPal payment will hold your reservation(s). There is no need to send a separate RSVP. If you have any questions, phone (203) 656-1129 or send an e-mail to DSPS@optonline.net and we will get back to you quickly.
